Lamar Hunt Open Cup: FMFC vs FC Tulsa (Round 2)
FORWARD MADISON FC RETURNS TO BREESE STEVENS FIELD FOR ROUND 2 LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP
Country’s longest-running National Soccer Tournament Back for 2025
MADISON, WI: Forward Madison FC continues to take part in 110th iteration of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2025. The tournament will host 96 clubs ranging from amateur to MLS and will take place across the country. The first round of this year’s contest will kick off on March 18th with three consecutive days of matches between 32 amateur and 32 professional teams.
The First Round winners - OUR FMFC 'MINGOS - advance to the Second Round, which will consist of 16 games and take place on April 1st & 2nd. The 16 winners of the Second Round will then face off against the top 16 USL Championship teams in the Third Round on April 15th & 16th.
16 Major League Soccer teams will be joining the 2025 Open Cup, an increase from eight teams in 2024. They will enter the competition in the Round of 32 on May 6th & 7th, and will face the winners of the Third Round. These remaining teams will duke it out through the Round of 16 (May 20th & 21st), Quarterfinals (July 8th & 9th), Semifinals (September 16th & 17th) and culminating in the Championship Match on October 1st.
2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Schedule
First Round March 18-20
Second Round April 1-2
Third Round April 15-16
Round of 32 May 6-7
Round of 16 May 20-21
Quarterfinals July 8-9
Semifinal Sept. 16-17
Final Oct. 1
Forward Madison FC’s history in this contest has been brief, having only played in the tournament four times. In 2019 FMFC made a good run, notching a First Round 2-0 victory over Milwaukee Bavarian SC and a commanding 3-0 Second Round win over El Paso Locomotive FC. However, their campaign was cut short by Saint Louis FC in Round Three after being handed a 1-3 loss. Returning in 2022 after the pandemic, the ‘Mingos entered the tournament in the Second Round with a victory over Cleveland SC at home but were knocked out in the following round by MLS squad, Minnesota United FC. In 2023, the ‘Mingos again entered in the Second Round but were immediately eliminated at home by Chicago House AC. Last year Forward beat out Duluth FC in a 2-0 victory at home but lost on the road to a superior Chicago Fire FC II squad. Building off of very successful 2024 League and Jägermeister Cup campaigns and with thirteen returning players, Forward Madison FC will look to go on a strong Open Cup run in 2025.
About Forward Madison FC: Forward Madison FC is a charter member of USL League One, launched in the Spring of 2019. The Flamingos were a USL League One playoff team in 2019, 2023, 2024, and have made an international name for themselves with a fun-loving, flamboyant brand. More information and registration for the team’s weekly newsletter is available at www.forwardmadisonfc.com. Follow the team on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The Bodega Night Market
The Bodega Series, sponsored by Lauer Realty Group, is returning to Madison’s Historic Breese Stevens Field for its ninth year.
Madison’s favorite nighttime, local artisan market will feature five Thursdays and two Fridays during the 2025 season: April 24th, May 29th, June 26th, August 7th, September 5th, September 26th, and October 23rd
The Bodega remains true to its roots, created with Wisconsin-based, small businesses in mind. The Bodega at Breese Stevens Field will again welcome over 60 local artisans and food vendors from Madison and surrounding areas in our beloved Wisconsin. Products vary from an array of crafts, handcrafted jewelry, curated boutiques, candles, soaps, unique artwork, sweet treats, savory eats, and more!
In addition to the incredible local businesses, Bodega attendees can expect children's activities, various entertainment, yard games, and plenty of field space to soak up the beautiful summer and fall evenings in Downtown Madison. Beer and wine will be available to sip while perusing the array of vendors. What began as a way to engage local vendors and crafters in a sustainable community event, has blossomed into a cornerstone of Summer and Fall in Madison; a place where all are welcome to enjoy the history, culture and atmosphere at Madison’s premier outdoor venue, The Historic Breese Stevens Field.
—
The Bodega is a free admission event that serves the community as a platform for small local businesses to reach shoppers in a fun, relaxing, entertaining, and safe environment. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or utilize the local parking garages available within mere blocks from the facility. Make sure not to forget your reusable bags and a collapsible wagon bag for all your sought after goods!
—
New in 2025, the Bodega will feature unique themes and corresponding activities for folks of all ages. Beginning with the first date in our 2025 Bodega series, April 24th will focus on blossoming Spring and Earth Day themes, showcasing how amazing our planet is and how we can help do our part in protecting and giving back to our beautiful planet. Who knows? You just may find some leftover eggs from the easter bunny lying around the field as well. In May, we turn our focus to the fast approaching end-of-the-school-year and a school’s out celebration, letting our kiddos know they have done a terrific job keeping their grades up and also acknowledging the work that our teachers have put in over the entire course of the year as well. Be sure to keep an eye on all the Breese Stevens Field socials for more!

Gates for each Bodega will open at 5:00 PM and run until 9:00 PM.

—
This will be The Flaming Lips’ first US shows since they toured last year with Weezer and Dinosaur Jr. They also recently celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots with an expanded edition of the album and released a 25th anniversary zoetrope vinyl of The Soft Bulletin.
—
Modest Mouse completed a tour at the end of 2024 celebrating the 20th anniversary of Good News For People Who Love Bad News, where they played the seminal record from start to finish. The tour followed the release of an expanded edition of the album that helped them break out of the rock underground after more than a decade of existence.
About The Flaming Lips:
Formed in Oklahoma City, OK in 1983, The Flaming Lips have since become one of the most iconic, influential, unpredictable, and vital forces in American alternative rock music. The band has garnered three GRAMMY® Awards, a Tony nomination, and an RIAA Gold-certified Record for Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Q Magazine named them one of the “50 Bands to See Before You Die.” The band has made countless late-night television appearances, appeared in a Super Bowl commercial, contributed to many film soundtracks, and collaborated with artists such as Miley Cyrus, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Kacey Musgraves, Yoko Ono, The Chemical Brothers, and many more.
Most recently, The LIPS have recorded an album of Nick Cave covers featuring vocalist Nell Smith called “Where The Viaduct Blooms.” They have set countless records, broken attendance records, have a hometown street named in their honor, created spectacular interactive audio/visual events now regarded as legendary. Frontman Wayne Coyne has been recognized for works of art that graced many LIPS album covers along with his traveling art exhibit (and subsequent album) “The King’s Mouth,” an audiovisual art installation that has been featured in many contemporary art museums around the US.
Their latest LP, American Head, marks a return to a more melodic and song-oriented body of work and has critically been lauded as their best work in years, placing on several “Year End/Best Of lists” around the world. Even after a combination of 23 studio recordings, 16 singles, 11 compilations, 12 EPs and 11 self-released experimental collaborative oddities released in various forms, quantities and unique mediums, The Flaming Lips remain in a creative apex that has no bounds. To that end, they have become an American Treasure and created a genre all to themselves.

About Modest Mouse:
Founded in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington bursting on the indie scene with 1996’s This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About. They went on to achieve their first #1 album on the Billboard Top 200 in 2007 with their album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
The band released their seventh studio album with 2021’s The Golden Casket. Variety reviewed the album, saying “the group continues to make inscrutable and unpredictable music far removed from the pop charts.” The band has toured relentlessly since its founding, proving themselves to be one of the most consistent live acts today.
They’ve most recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of Good News For People Who Love Bad News, which featured their hit “Float On” and earned them a Grammy Nomination, and the 25th anniversary of The Lonesome Crowded West. They subsequently toured on both albums, performing each from start to finish. They toured extensively with The Pixies and Cat Power in 2023 and 2024.

2025 UFA Championship Weekend
The Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) will hold the 2025 UFA Championship Weekend in Madison, WI. at Breese Stevens Field on August 22-23. The “Capital City of Ultimate” and home to the UFA’s Madison Radicals is slated to host the event for the fourth time, the most of any city in league history. The division title winner of the East, South, Central, and West will again advance to the “final four” event with two semifinals scheduled for Friday, August 22, and the championship game set for Saturday, August 23.
“Madison continues to be one of the league’s strongest cities in terms of fan engagement and excitement,” said UFA Chairman Rob Lloyd. “We’re thrilled to recognize the home of the Radicals with the 2025 UFA Championship, and welcome ultimate fans from around the world to this special place.”
Madison first hosted the league’s premier event in 2016 with the Dallas Roughnecks capturing the title in the highest scoring championship game in history (33-27). Two years later, the Radicals beat the Dallas team 20-16 to win the title at home. In 2022, the New York Empire completed a perfect season and captured the UFA Championship at Breese Stevens Field.
The league also unveiled the official 2025 UFA Championship logo, featuring numerous references to the iconic midwest capital. The bright blue color symbolizes the legendary lakes surrounding the city, while the three flowing waves honor the three previous title games. The small cross in the text can also be found on the official flag of Madison, denoting the four lakes of the region–Mendota, Monona, Kegonsa, and Waubesa–as well as the shape of the Wisconsin State Capitol.
Tickets for the 2025 UFA Championship Weekend are now on sale, including single-day passes ($20) and weekend passes ($35). VIP speciality sections, featuring unlimited beer and pizza, are also on sale at $75 for a single day or $125 for the weekend. Special pricing is also available for students and youth (ages 4-12), with all kids ages three and under receiving free admission for all games. Opening pull for the first semifinal game on Friday will be 5:00 PM/CT, with the second game immediately following at 7:00 PM/CT. The 2025 title game will begin at 7:00 PM/CT on Saturday.
Fans are also invited to stay at Moxy Madison Downtown, the official hotel partner of the 2025 UFA Championship Weekend. Located across the street from Breese Stevens Field, the boutique hotel features modern accommodations, a rooftop bar, fitness center and more. Special pricing is now available for UFA fans.
Last season, the Minnesota Wind Chill captured their first championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, defeating the Carolina Flyers 17-16 at Zions Bank Stadium. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit watchufa.com.

Cheshire Cat Comedy Presents...The Sh!tshow: A Chaotic Stand-Up Comedy Show
Hot Ones meets stand-up as comedians do stand-up while eating spicy peppers.
With headliner JOE FERNANDEZ:
Joe Fernandez is a half-Cuban half-Irish (or Cubish) comedian and actor. Described as cerebral, sardonic, and flat out bizarre, Joe combines low-brow, off-color humor with high-brow references to satirize serious subjects. Joe has morphed smart and stupid into his own unique brand of silly--but layered--comedy. He’s taken his offstage persona of intolerable presence and morphed it into his on-stage persona of lovable jerk and is facetious to a fault.
Joe has performed in numerous comedy festivals such as Chicago TBS Just For Laughs Fest, the Boston Comedy Fest, the Memphis Comedy fest, and Chicago Sketchfest. Lamar Hunt Open Cup: FMFC vs Duluth FC
FORWARD MADISON FC RETURNS TO LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP
Country’s longest-running National Soccer Tournament Back for 2025
MADISON, WI: Forward Madison FC is set to take part in 110th iteration of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2025. The tournament will host 96 clubs ranging from amateur to MLS and will take place across the country. The first round of this year’s contest will kick off on March 18th with three consecutive days of matches between 32 amateur and 32 professional teams.
The First Round winners will advance to the Second Round, which will consist of 16 games and take place on April 1st & 2nd.

The showcase has since blossomed into a featured showcase at locations such as The Forward Club at Breese Stevens Field; Comedy Cabin in Janesville, WI; and The Lincoln Lodge in Chicago, IL. Presenters span entrepreneurs, educators, researchers, activists, union organizers, surgeons, engineers, and stand-up comedians with an itch to nerd out on stage.
Every now and then, Words with Nerds adds in a little splash of something extra; past examples include Rick Sanchez of Rick and Morty performing a burlesque number and Batman doing stand-up comedy.
Parties interested in presenting at Words with Nerds are invited to send their pitches to cheshirecatcomedyco@gmail.com.
