The event will feature a youth soccer clinic from 10:00 AM – Noon. Following the clinic, there will be two youth tournaments that will feature local Dane County children from pre-selected teams. One will feature teams of 10-12 years old and the other 13-15 year olds.
Former Mexican National Team legend, Alberto García Aspe will be in attendance and will be assisting with the youth clinic in the morning and signing autographs in the afternoon.
Following the clinic, García Aspe will address the crowd to talk a little bit about his career and there will also be a short question and answer session. Beginning at 12:30 pm, García Aspe will be signing autographs and will do so until 2:30 pm. To secure an autograph, the first 1,000 fans to enter Breese Stevens Field will be given a ticket upon entry into the facility that they need to bring to the Madison Gas and Electric tent to receive a picture of García Aspe to be autographed. Only fans with that picture will be guaranteed an autograph during the event. The gate located on the corner of East Washington and Paterson will open at 9:30 am.
In addition to soccer, there will be food carts and beverages available for purchase throughout the day. There will be music played over the PA system and La Movida will also be present for a portion of the event. This event is a one for the entire family and all ages are encouraged to attend.
YOUTH SOCCER CLINIC
The youth soccer clinic is available to all children ages 8 to 15. No registration is required; youth just need to come to Breese Stevens Field to participate. The Madison 56ers will have players/coaches out during the event to help run the clinic. Participation in the clinic is free. Parents/guardians and other family and friends are encouraged to stay during the clinic and spectate.
ALBERTO GARCÍA ASPE
Alberto García Aspe was a former mainstay midfielder for the Mexican National Soccer team from 1988-2002. García Aspe made three FIFA World Cup appearances including the 1994 World Cup that was held in the USA, 1998 in France and 2002 in South Korea and Japan. Additionally, García Aspe played for Pumas from 1984 – 1991, Necaxa from 1991 – 1997, was on loan to River Plate in 1995, América from 1997 – 1999 and Puebla from 1999 – 2002. Now García Aspe is most well-known for his Fox Deportes program La Última Palabra.
ABOUT BREESE STEVENS FIELD
Breese Stevens Field is a multi-purpose stadium listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and located in downtown Madison on East Washington Avenue. The facility hosts athletic events, concerts, community events and more annually.
What is MGE Día de Fútbol?
MGE Día de Fútbol is a day to celebrate the sport of soccer. It’s sponsored by MGE and held at Breese Stevens Field. There will be music, food vendors, a youth soccer clinic, and a youth soccer tournament. Admission to the event is free.

What time is the event?
It begins with a youth clinic at 10:00 am and will end upon completion of the afternoon soccer tournament, around 3:00 pm.
What ages can participate in the clinic?
The free youth soccer clinic is open to children between the ages of 8-15.
How do we sign up for the soccer clinic?
It’s not necessary to sign up for the clinic. Just come to Breese Stevens Field on Sunday Oct. 8th. The clinic will begin at 10:00 am.
How do I sign up for the youth tournament?
The teams for the tournament have been pre-selected.
What is the youth tournament?
The tournament will consist of two tournaments. The first will be 4 teams of 8 players in the 10-12 year old age group. The second will be 4 teams of 8 players in the 13-15 year old age group. Each game will be 35 minutes. The field at Breese Stevens will be divided into two fields so games will be going on simultaneously.
How much does this event cost?
MGE Día de Fútbol is a free event, courtesy of MGE. MGE’s partners in this event are Breese Stevens Field and La Movida radio.
Will there be food at the event?
Yes, food will be available for purchase and there will be multiple food vendors at the event. There will also be a beverage cart serving soda, water, beer and margaritas.

Event attendees are also encouraged to bike to the event. Adequate bike parking will be provided, courtesy of Schwinn, at the corners of North Patterson and East Washington; and North Patterson and East Mifflin.
